Championship events are open only to British Isles subjects or players resident therein for the past year, or those with British Overseas Dependent Territories Citizenship. In Junior Championships, ages relate to 1st January 2010 e.g. an Under 10 will be born in 2000 or later. All Junior Championships will include titles for at least one Boy and at least one Girl.

 

BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP                            Entry Fee £200 (£140 U-21)

 

 

Free to GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs and players who won a free entry at the 2009 British Championship.

 

Players who gained their FM or WFM title during the last 12 months may pay an entry
fee reduced by £60.

 

All of the above apply only to entries postmarked prior to 5th July.
This event is open only to exempted or qualified players.

 

Prizes: - £5,000; £2,500; £1,500; £1,200; £900; £700; £500; £300.


BRITISH Woman Champion: - £500.


Under 21 Champion (18-20): - £250. Under 18 Champion: - £250.


ENGLISH Champion: - £1,500. Woman Champion: - £500.

Playing Schedule: - Mon 26 July - Fri 6 August (Rest Day Sun 1 Aug).
11 rounds, starting 2:15 pm daily, approx 7 hour sessions using FIDE
cumulative incremental time

 

Play-off: Should there be a tie for the title after 11 rounds a play-off will take place on Saturday 7 August. 10% of the prize fund due for 1st and any subsequent prizes involved in the tie will be held back and distributed following the play-off. The type and length of play-off plus the distribution of prizes will be determined by the number of players involved; full details will be given in the programme. Entry to the Championship is deemed as acceptance of these conditions.

6 rounds.  All moves in 30 minutes for each player.

Open to all players except those entitled to play in the British Championship

 

Prizes: - £1000; £500; £250; £150; £100

 

Best performances relative to FIDE Rating for players over 21 £150, £100.

 

No player may win more than one prize.

Rates of Play

7 hour sessions (Afternoon events): 100 minutes for 40 moves followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the remaining moves with 30 seconds cumulative increment for each move starting from first move
6 hour session (Senior): 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by all moves in 1 hour.
4 hour sessions: 40 moves in 100 minutes followed by all moves in 20 minutes
Rapidplays: 20 minutes + 10 seconds per move
